Apgar Lookout

This half day ride takes you through the 2003 Roberts Fire burn area, to the NPS fire lookout tower atop Apgar Mountain. The bare trees from the burn have opened up incredible views that keep getting better as you climb to the top. Once you reach the top, you are treated to panoramic views of the Lake McDonald Valley, the North Fork, the Bad Rock Canyon and even glimpses of the Great Bear Wilderness. There is very little tree cover so bring sunscreen and water. This trail is not recommended for the beginner rider due to the steepness (2500 foot elevation gain) and has a four person minimum.

Advanced Fish and Ride

The day begins by meeting your guide at the trail head. You will then complete some paperwork, receive a safety briefing , mount up, and ride to your fishing destination. Upon arrival, your guide will unpack your gear. Please note we can provide the gear or you can bring your own personal gear. You have the choice to either fish from the shore, darn a pair of waders and fish in the streams and shallow parts of the lake, or venture out into the mountain lake in a float tub. Swan Full Day Trail Ride

Swan Mountain Outfitters offers spectacular longer duration trail rides (6 to 8 hours) that include lunch and a stopover at an unforgettable spot. More experienced riders just love this opportunity to ride by horseback high above the valley floor to see the awe-inspiring views of the Mission and Swan Mountains that form the infamous Swan Valley. We usually ride up the Lion Creek drainage paralleling the creek the majority of the ride. Imagine having lunch with your toes soaking in the cool water of the creek, or taking pictures of a waterfall cascading over 100 feet!

Similar to our short duration rides, our all day rides launch from our base camp off of Lion Creek Road in the Flathead National Forest. We like to get an early morning start, and after fitting stirrups and our safety/training briefing we’re off!

Please note we do not accept online reservations. Submitting an inquiry expresses your interest in a trip, but does not indicate an actual booking. Online inquiries for same day or next day reserva
